THE CHALLENGE
Upgrade and modernize its infrastructure to support its growing, transaction-heavy operations.
For its active online retail business, high availability is critical, as is data protection and compliance. Additionally, the company wanted to build a virtualized environment that could easily scale to support future growth.
Over time, the company’s more traditional approach to backup using tape was becoming complex and difficult to manage. Further, server sprawl was increasing power consumption and increasing the risk of data loss.
To ensure compliance with PCI regulations while protecting critical customer and business data, Power Systems wanted to deploy a more efficient virtualized infrastructure with complete redundancy, protected by a managed data protection solution to improve recoverability.

“Verinext has proven to be a real infrastructure expert. They’ve already solved our problems before and have the support staff that tackles anything. That’s why I knew they’d architect the infrastructure that would solve our needs, without adding additional management work.”
– Brian Gladfelter, Systems and Security Administrator, Power Systems
To solve its infrastructure needs, Power Systems turned to Verinext.

“Verinext has proven to be a real infrastructure expert.”
– Brian Gladfelter, Systems and Security Administrator, Power Systems
THE SOLUTION
Verinext architected a VMware virtualized environment that integrates seamlessly with the company’s dedicated physical services that support its ERP system and 7TB data center.
The entire environment was then replicated in an off site datacenter for complete redundancy powered by Dell switches and SANs. Finally, to ensure reliable data protection and recovery, Verinext replaced Power Systems’ tape-based backup processes with a Verinext-managed cloud backup solution based on Commvault technology. The fitness company also utilizes Verinext’s first call support to manage any unexpected issues.
“Verinext has a great team for day-to-day operations. But, when things get a bit more specialized they have the experts to help there as well. I know we’re always taken care of,” said Gladfelter.
“Verinext provided expertise every step of the way, from migrating the data to implementation of the environment to ongoing support. Their team is second to none.”

THE RESULTS
The new virtualized infrastructure with off site redundancy and cloud-based backup.
Even more, Power Systems was impressed with the cost-savings Verinext was able to deliver throughout the process.
“Verinext has helped us to save both money and time. Their price was on point or better than other quotes we received. Plus, knowing they are there to take care of things and even tell us proactively when remediation is needed means we don’t have to even look at it. This has allowed us to continue growing without adding another person to our IT team.”
